Programs

The main objective for each of the Open Arms programs is to provide a safe, loving, Christian program for early childhood education, which includes teaching, storytelling, sharing, music, playing, Jesus-time, and chapel in an informational, home-like environment.

Curriculum

Our Curriculum: Faith-Centered, Play-Based Learning
At Open Arms, faith development is the foundation of everything we do.
Our curriculum is designed to nurture the growth and development of young children in a Christ-centered environment.

Faith Development

  • Activities are designed to enrich the spiritual lives of children.
  • Monthly themes help children understand God’s love for all people.
  • Bible stories, prayers before meals, and weekly chapel worship are integral to our program.

Play-Based Learning Framework –
Our curriculum integrates play as a vital tool for learning and exploration.

Play-based activities allow children to:

  • Develop new skills and coping mechanisms.
  • Test ideas and master their physical abilities.
  • Build social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills.

Comprehensive Development –
Our curriculum addresses all areas of child development:

  • Social and Emotional Development: Building positive interactions with peers and adults.
  • Physical Development: Encouraging movement, coordination, and motor skills.
  • Cognitive Growth: Stimulating curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Language Skills: Enhancing communication through stories, conversations, and activities.

Creative Exploration

  • Teachers adapt the curriculum based on their experiences and the children’s interests.
  • Classrooms are designed for choice-based learning, allowing children to decide where to play and explore.
  • Art Emphasis: Focused on the creative process rather than the end product, fostering imagination and self-expression.
  • Content Areas: Guidance for teachers in literacy, math, science, social skills, and the arts.

Specials: Physical Education

  • Daily physical education classes are led by expert teachers.
  • Hands-on learning introduces foundational skills in these areas, preparing children for future challenges.

Spiritual Values in Action

  • Exemplary interaction models Christian values for children.
  • The curriculum reinforces love, respect, and individual value, treating each child as a unique member of the Open Arms community.

Open Arms’ programs provide experiences and activities, which will meet your child’s spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs.

We believe that hearing Bible stories is an important part of the development of a child because of what it teaches about God’s love for the world, especially as shown in Jesus Christ.

Your child will be guided to start taking part in small and large group activities. This combination of experiences will broaden your child’s aptitude for future schoolwork, while allowing free reign for imagination and creativity. Children are attended to at all times by trained and experienced teachers.

The program includes outdoor play with games, exploration and exercise, indoor child-selected play with developmentally appropriate toys, sand and water play, prayers, songs, Bible stories, music, chapel, story time, nature study, and age-appropriate field trips
